European Day of Languages

Last Saturday, 26th of September, was the European Day of Languages, a day to celebrate the linguistic diversity and cultural  richness all around Europe. For this reason, students from 2nd of ESO and 2nd of Bachillerato from Practical English did some activities to celebrate the ocassion.

They took part in a linguistic quiz, played musical chairs, listened to an English song in which the lines had to be ordered on the floor and another one in French in which they could see the lexic resemblance between this language and Spanish, Valencian and also English.

Electronic European Language Portfolio "e-PEL"

This year, students of 3rd of ESO in Practical English and Chemistry in English, 4th of ESO in Practical English, 1st of Bachillerato in Practical English, 1st course of Administration and 1st course of Administration and Finance have been using the "e-PEL", Electronic European Language Portfolio.
The e-PEL is an educational tool promoted by the European Council with which students can be aware of their learning process with the foreign language both in English and other subjects.
Students can access the e-PEL platform and find out if they have achieved different linguistic objectives in Reading, Listening, Speaking interaction, Speaking production and Writing using the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), or check if they need to work a bit harder to achieve it in the future.
They can also, among other things, consider and write down their linguistic experiences when learning a language, upload diplomas and certificates they got when doing so and post activites, tasks and projects that led them to master any particular objective.

Last week, from the 11th to the 13th of May, some teachers from different High-schools in Alicante went to visit our students doing their work training in Ireland inside the "European Work Experience III" Project, financed by the European Union.
The Administration students from La Foia, Rebeka Budai, África Ruzafa, Lucía Martínez and Bianca Lucaci, are doing their training for a company called OAI (Outdoor Activity Institute), based in Tallaght, in the south of Dublin.
They are sharing their experience and work with some other Administration students from the CIP FP Batoi from Alcoi and other TECAF students from all around the province of Alicante.
We hope they make the most of their stay in Ireland and come back with happy memories and interesting stories to tell.

School exchange with Poland school

Last week students of Practical English from 1st of Bachillerato and students of 3rd of ESO who study Chemistry in English took part in a school exchange in Poland.
The goals of the trip were to improve the students' skills in English, get to know a different educational system and enhance personal development.
The students visited Krakow and Wroclaw. At Wroclaw University professors from the Science Department showed our students some of the facilities and research laboratories.
The students' behaviour has been great and the exchange has been excellent for showing students the importance of English for their personal and professional future lives.
We will have the Polish students staying with us in Ibi from the 6th to the 13th of May!

The brightest detectives!

Here are the students who found out more clues and uncovered more mysteries during the "Jornada de Convivencia" last Wednesday the 4th of February.
Thanks to them, the murder in the library is solved now and the murderer is now in prison!!
They got a little present so that they can continue investigating and solving more crimes.

We would like to thank Mr. Paco Esteve for the great costumes he lent us and Mr. Pedro Vega from Pearson Publishing for the interesting detective stories and Agatha Christie material he so kindly sent us.

Jornada de convivencia febrero 2015

This morning we celebrated the "XII Jornada de Convivencia" in our High School.
The English Department prepared the activity "Murder in the Library. Solving Mysteries with Agatha Christie. 125th Anniversary" .
The students who took part in the activities could gather some clues to find out who committed different crimes in different situations and, we must, say, they did really well!
Here are some photos presented as evidence.
